Validation is or should be an important aspect for all concerned, however it is a must for anybody who only uses a WYSIWYG HTML editor.
There are a number of good validators around, both for download and for use online, however, there are free online validators at W3C.org. W3C set the HTML standards so you would like to believe that their validators would provide you with the right answers.
